Indie or hobbyist, if you’re a game developer with a Tumblr blog dedicated to your process and progress, reblog this!
You will be added to The Game Developer Network.
You can read about the network here.
If you have a Twitter you’d like linked, please include that in your reblog!
You can also be added to the directory by messaging me.
** Remember: This is only for game developers.
Basically, my reason for creating this is so that gamedevs on Tumblr can find fellow gamedevs. It’s kind of like an easy to navigate directory to find and connect with people who are also working on games.
Don’t be scared to ask or reblog! This is for all game developers on Tumblr! Really. Don’t feel lame. Help me help you~
If you’re having trouble reblogging this post, here’s the direct link!

Reblogging! Also, I’m in Twitter under @SynchrexENG!

Last friday I forgot to do a Progress update, so…

PROGRESS FRIDAY - EXCLUSIVE MONDAY EDITION!

image

Behold the controls screen! Now you can change the control scheme of “Behind…”! Pictured here is the default config, but you can change it without problems…

image

…well, maybe it needs a bit more of work.

image

The ratings from Ludum Dare! Could be worse. I’m surprised with the votes for “Audio”, since the game has just one sound effect.

Progress Friday

So, I’ve decided that every Friday I’ll be showing gifs of my latest additions to “Behind the… hey look, shiny things - Extended”, so I can’t show I’m not lazy!

Just remember that all the graphics are placeholder.

And, this week we have…

image

Enemies!

Dark, mysterious creatures who roam the shadows, waiting for you…

And nope, they aren’t just floating eyes. But y’know, black background, black body…

This exact type of enemy turns off your light if it touches you, leaving you in total darkness for several seconds. I have more types planned, what leads us to the second novelty…

Weird things that you can throw!

In the final version they will be stones or something like that, but now, they’re just… white cubes. White deadly cubes. Because every explorer needs some way of self-defense, and because I like that little arc they do when you launch them.

And that’s all this week, because stupid real life keeps interfering with my productivity. Stay tuned!

Behind the… hey, look, shiny things! – Postmortem!

(If you haven’t played yet, you can play by clicking here!)

What went well:
- The theme. Was among my favorites during voting, and was really easy to find an idea that seemed good.

- The idea was born at 6 am on a day when I couldn’t sleep because of an annoying toothache. It doesn’t seem a good start, but that morning, ignoring the lack of sleep, I had a prototype ready.
Were left behind several things I wanted to add but could not because of time, but I still think I got to create something fun.

- Flixel. This engine is wonderful. It allows you to do everything. (My original idea was to use HaxeFlixel, but it was impossible. See section “What went wrongfor details.)

What went wrong:

-The engine. My original idea was to use HaxeFlixel. This was fine for the first two hours, until I discovered how stupidly complex it is to read objects in a TMX in Haxeflixel. What in Flixel is five lines of code, here became a hell in which I spend several hours, and it forced me to change to Flixel  in the middle of the competition.

-Twitch. It no longer automatically saves your streamings unless you manually change an option that is relatively hidden, which led me to lose several hours of video when I was doing my streaming.

- The art. Again.

The future:

I think the idea has a lot of potential if I polish it and add more items to make the game something worthy. Therefore, I have begun work on a second version (Behind the … Extended Edition!), with the aim putting it in FlashGameLicense to auction as soon as it is finished.
You will have news about it …

Hey, I remembered that I have a blog!

Little activity on the blog, a lot of work out of it.

With Dimension of Cubes” temporarily suspended now we are focusing on a new project that may be promising. We get in full in the realm of strategy games, especially since we are developing something with high influences from games like Dungeon Keeper and especially "Theme Hospital. Nostalgic play sessions in search of inspiration are interspersed with hours of work.

We still can not give dates, there is much work ahead, but we work at a high pace to have something soon. And discoveries like this consolle for Game Maker significantly increase our creativity. And our bugs, I must say, but that’s the fun part.

We have some ideas for other projects (I found a 2D physics engine for Game Maker who is screaming use me), but all in good time

It’s too appealing. It’s beyond my strength.
